A girl was found murdered at home early today in a posh colony of the city with her family suspecting the hand of a neighbourhood boy in the crime who used to often pester her on phone.

The blood-spattered body of the 16-year-old girl, who was a student of a prestigious school of the city, was found in the gallery of her Palm City home by family members early this morning, investigating officer Natthi Lal Uniyal said.

The girl seems to have died after being hit by an iron rod. Her eyes have also been gouged out, he said.

The girl's family has suspicion on a boy, called Ravi Rajput, who lived in the same colony and often called the girl.

The murder could be an act of retribution by the boy whose advances had been rejected by her, they feel.

A search is on to nab the suspect and the exact reason of the cold-blooded murder is being probed, Uniyal said.

The victim was the eldest of three children adopted by K K Arora, a property dealer from Haridwar.
