A 14-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by five juveniles in city, police said today.

Though the alleged incident took place on October 1, father of the girl avoided approaching the police fearing social stigma as his elder daughter is scheduled to marry next month.

However, Gajuwaka Police took cognisance of reports appearing in local media and traced the girl's family, said police inspector T Immanuel Raju.

He said the girl is a class VIII students and two of the accused are known to her.

Explaining the sequence of events, he said one of the duo took the girl to a house on October 1 under the pretext of dance practice where four others joined them and allegedly raped her.

Police have identified all the accused and are looking for them.

The victim has been sent for medical examination and further investigation is on.
