The device, which was found in a gift-pack at the door of the house, was picked up by the mother's victim and exploded when the girl was about to open it, police said.
"My mother picked up the packet from the door and handed it over to me. Before I could open, it exploded with a huge sound," said the victim, a student of Plus II in a college in the town.
She sustained injuries on her hand and face and undergoing treatment at M K C G Medical College and Hospital here. Her condition was out of danger, police said.
A similar explosive device in a gift pack was also recovered by the police near another house, about 100-meter from the house of the blast victim in the same locality.
Police, however, defused the bomb. The low-intensity bombs were inside in plastic boxes.
Inspector in-charge of Golanthara police station P C Mishra said, "We are investigating into the matter from all angles". PTI
