Teenage girl raped in Bahraich

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth when she was working alone in a field in Bargadiha village in Nanpara Kotwali area here, police said today.

The incident happened last evening when the accused Tinku (22) of the same village allegedly raped the girl when she was working in the field, they said.

Tinku threatened the victim when she raised an alarm and pierced a knife in her neck following which the villagers rushed to her rescue, police said.

The victim was taken to community health centre where the knife was taken off her neck and she was referred to the district hospital in a serious condition, they said.
 

The absconding accused has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and a case of rape and attempt to murder has also been registered against him.
