A 16-year-old girl was shot dead
allegedly by five persons in Kotwali area, police said here today.
Sabiya was gunned down last night near Ravhi bridge on Lakhimpur-Dhaurehra road when she was returning home with her bother, Aleem, on a motorcycle, they said.
Based on a complaint of Aleem, a case was registered against Sajid, Sabir, Rashid, Anis and another person of Mirjapur village.
Circle Officer M P Singh said one of the accused, Sabir, had been held while efforts were on to nab others.
Sabiya's brother Aleem suspected that some old dispute might have led to the murder.
