Teenage girl sold in Haryana traced

A teenage girl, allegedly sold to a person in Haryana, was traced and brought back to her village in Assam's Kamrup (Rural) district today, police said here.

The girl, hailing from Dhuhiwala village in Kara police station, was lured by a man who promised her marriage and taken to Haryana where she was sold for Rs one lakh in Karnal last month.

The girl's family members filed a complaint with the police following which four persons were arrested in this connection and based on their interrogation, she was traced to Haryana.

An Assam police team with the help of Haryana police brought back the girl to her village today but the main accused, Nurul Hussain, was yet to be nabbed.
 

The police have launched a massive search operation to nab Hussain, sources added.
