A 16-year-old girl was killed and her mother and brother sustained knife injuries after being attacked by her step-father at Chanakyapuri area here today.

The incident was reported around 7.20 am from the servant quarters of a bungalow, rented by a Japan embassy official, at New Delhi's Malcha Marg, said a police official.

The accused has been identified as Subhash, a driver by profession, whose wife Renu is employed as domestic help at the bungalow and has been alloted a quarter, where she lived with her daughter Rubina (16) and son Rohit (18), police said.

"Subhash, who is a step-father to Rubina and Rohit, lived separate and visited his family occasionally. During investigation it also emerged that lately he was pressurising his wife to transfer an inherited property in his name," said the official.

Today morning, Subhash came home and entered into an argument with his wife. Later, Rubina and Rohit joined.

Subhash suddenly pulled out a knife and allegedly attacked his family members. He sustained severe injuries himself when he entered into a scuffle with Rohit, who tried to stop his step-father, said the police official.

Rubina received a severe stab injury on her chest. Rohit rushed her to a prominent hospital in New Delhi where she was declared brought dead. Rohit, who was also injured, had to be admitted there too, said the official.

Meanwhile, the police was informed and a team was rushed to the spot. Renu and Subhash, both injured, were then taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and their conditions are stated to be out of danger, the official added.

"The statements of the parties have been recorded and a case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC. Investigation is underway," said DCP (New Delhi) Jatin Narwal.
