Three teenage girls, who were found loitering near the city railway station, were rescued by police early today.

The police, on morning rounds, noticed the girls standing on the road and took them to the nearest police station.

Police said the three, in the age group of 16, hail from Villupuram and were pursuing their studies while staying at an Ashram there, police said.

Since they were not interested in studies, they escaped from there and came to the city by train in search of jobs, they told police.

They have been kept in a shelter home and the parents have been informed, police added.
