Teenage killed in clash between two villages

A 14-year-old boy was today shot dead allegedly in a clash between two groups of two neighbouring villages in Nungei area of Manipur's Thoubal district, police said.

Two groups of people belonging to Nungei Meitei and Nungei Meetei Pangal villages fought with stones and a few gun shots were also fired.

The victim, identified as Md Arif, sustained bullet injuries and later succumbed to his wounds at a hospital here.

Policemen have been deployed in the area following a firing incident on April 11 in which 9 women were injured.

Additional police force was sent there after today's clash and the they had to burst tear gas shells to disperse the clashing groups, police said.
