Teenage maid charred to death at employer's house in Outer

The charred body of a 17-year-old girl was found under mysterious circumstances at her employer's residence in Outer Delhi's Mongolpuri area here this afternoon prompting angry protests by locals in which five persons were injured.

The body of the deceased identified as Shivani, was recovered from the bathroom which was bolted from inside.

It all began around 2 PM when the employer, identified as Atul who is a scientist by profession called up Shivani's father and told him that his daughter had locked herself in the bathroom.

He also called up police but by the time they reached flames had started emanating from the bathroom.
 

"We broke open the door and the girl was rushed to a hospital where she was declared brought dead," said a senior police official.

However, as the news spread in the nearby JJ colony where the girl lived with her family, angry locals and family members started pelting stones and vandalising the house.

They broke the window panes and around five persons were injured in this, police said.

As situation turned worse, extra force was rushed to the spot and cops had to fire tear gas shells and also use mild force to disperse the crowd.

"We have set up a medical board for the post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. We are investigating the case," he said.

Her family members have alleged that her employers had set her on fire. Police officials is verifying all these claims.
