A five-year-old girl was sexually assaulted allegedly by a 15-year-old boy living in her neighbourhood at south Delhi's Vasant Kunj area, police said today.
Both the victim and the boy stay with their parents at a slum cluster. The victim's father is a driver and her mother a housewife, a police official said.
The incident was reported yesterday afternoon when the boy allegedly went to the victim's house, when her father was out on duty and her mother had gone out to buy milk, and allegedly forced himself upon her.
He also allegedly threatened her of dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone, said the police official.
When the victim's mother came home, she found the girl crying uncontrollably.
Later when she narrated her ordeal to her mother, she informed her husband. The girl's father returned home and he called up the police control room and reported the matter, said the official.
The girl was taken to a hospital for a medical examination and later sent for counselling by an NGO.
Meanwhile, the police registered a case and detained the teenager, the official added.
