A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an 18-year-old youth in Keshoraipatant area of the district, police said today.
The accused youth, Shivraj Kevat, was arrested and a case under sections 376 of IPC and 3,4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was lodged against him, the Superintendent of Police said in a statement issued here today.
The medical report of the minor confirmed rape, the SP said.
The accused' medical examination also confirmed his age to be over 18 years, following which he was arrested and later produced before the district magistrate.
The incident took place on Saturday when the girl was playing outdoor in the neighbourhood. Kevat took the girl to his room on some pretext, where he allegedly raped her.
The girl came back home bleeding profusely, following which her parents lodged a complaint with the police the same day.
