A 16-year-old boy was crushed to
death by a speeding vehicle in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi near here today, police said.
The victim, Shabaz Sayyed Hussain, was riding pillion on a bike in the morning when the two-wheeler driver lost control while trying to avoid collision with a cyclist.
Both fell on the road and Hussain was run over by a civic dumper. The teenager died on way to hospital, while the other person suffered injuries and has been hospitalised, said Senior Inspector R D Shinde of Shanti Nagar Police Station.
Immediately after the mishap, irate locals damaged the dumper, whose driver has been arrested and booked under IPC Section 304-A (causing death by negligence), he said.
