A teenaged girl was raped allegedly by a 60-year-old man following which she became pregnant, Thane rural police said today.
The 13-year-old victim, hailing from Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district, used to stay with the family of the accused at Jogesh Park locality on Mira Road here and do petty jobs for them as her father did not take proper care of her and was a habitual drinker.
The family of the accused, identified as one Pradhan Kaka, a retired BMC worker, used to allegedly give the victim tranquilisers and taking advantage of her drowsy state, the accused repeatedly raped her for the last 7-8 months, Mira Road police station inspector Dhanaji Kshirsagar.

When the victim's father came to know about the pregnancy of her daughter, he enquired about it after which she revealed that she was sexually assaulted by her caretaker.
The girl's father registered an offence late last night against Pradhan, his wife and another girl at their home.
API Jaiprakash Gute, the investigating officer in the case, said offences have been registered against the three under sections 376 (rape) and 328 rw 34 of the IPC, and sections 3, 4, 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
The girl will be sent for medical examination after which her pregnancy period will be established, police said, adding that a search has been launched to nab the absconding culprits.
