A teenage girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Kanachak area of Jammu district.
The 14-year-old had left her house to answer nature's call when a youth identified as Sahil Sharma, overpowered and raped her on Tuesday evening in Lalyal area, Station House Officer (SHO) Kanachak, Rakesh Kumar said.
The accused threatened the girl with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to her family or anybody else.
However, the girl narrated the ordeal to her mother who approached police yesterday and lodged a complaint, the officer said.
He said a case has been registered and a manhunt has been launched to apprehended the culprit.
