Tehsilar arrested for taking Rs 20,000 bribe

A tehsildar in Andhra Pradesh's East Godavari district was caught while he was allegedly accepting Rs 20,000 as bribe from a complainant, ACB said today.

V Chittibabu, tehsildar of Kapileswarapuram mandal, was caught late last night by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials when he demanded and accepted bribe amount of Rs 20,000 from a complainant.

He had demanded the money from the complainant for doing an official favour to process, recommend and forward his application for allotment of land for construction of weavers community hall, an ACB release said here today.

The bribe amount of Rs 20,000 was recovered from him while relevant records were also seized after which he was arrested, the release said adding that the case was under investigation.
