The Divisional Commissioner Purushotam Bhapkar suspended Rupa Chitrak on complaints against her of having links with sand mafia, an official said today.
The action was initiated on a report submitted to the divisional commissioner against Chitrak by the collector's office.
Illegally excavated sand was found by the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) during inspection in Latifpur village.
Sarpanch and villagers had complained that the tehsildar and other officials were in cahoots with the sand mafia, and turned blind eye to the illegality.
