Indian shot-putter Tejinder Singh qualified for the finals of the Commonwealth Games with a sixth-place finish in the qualifying round here today.
Placed in qualifying Group A, the reigning national champion managed a distance of 19.10m in his final attempt of the day after throws of 18.49m and 18.43m.
Tejinder came into the Games after claiming a silver at the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran in February.
New Zealand's Tomas Walsh topped the qualifying with a new Games record of 22.45m followed by Nigeria's Chukwuebuka Enekechi (20.66m).
The finals of the event are scheduled for tomorrow.
