Tel Council chairman appears in court in poll code breach case

Telangana Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud today appeared before a local court in connection with a case of alleged violation of model code of conduct in 2013.

On February 21, 2013, the then tahsildar of Karimnagar mandal had filed a complaint against Goud, who was the then TRS nominee for the election to Graduates MLC constituency, for allegedly violating model code of conduct by putting up a poster displaying the picture of party chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and himself at the Collectorate gate in Karimnagar town.

The complaint said the alleged offence was punishable under section 127(A) of Representation of the People Act.
 

Swamy Goud was successful in the election then. He was elected Chairman of Telangana State Legislative Council last year.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered and recently summons issued to him to appear before the court.

Complying with the summons received, Swamy Goud appeared before the court of Special Judicial Magistrate First Class (Excise) here today.

However, Magistrate G Srinivas was on some other official duty and therefore, the case was adjourned and posted to November 6.
