Tel govt aims at giving irrigation facility to 8 lakh acres

Telangana Government is aiming at providing irrigation facility to eight lakh acres of land through Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) during the upcoming Rabi season.

State Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao gave this directive to the officials during a meeting with irrigation officials here today.

According to a state government release, the engineers in the SRSP (involving Godavari river) informed that irrigation facility was provided to 5.39 lakh acres during the Kharif season. Other issues of the irrigation department were also discussed on the occasion.

Sri Ram Sagar is an irrigation project across river Godavari in Telangana to serve irrigational needs in Karimnagar, Warangal, Adilabad, Nalgonda, and Khammam districts. It also provides drinking water to Warangal city.
 

Also known as flood-flow project, it is located in Nizamabad district.
