The Telangana government is set to bring a mobile application which will enable people to check the authenticity of bills they get for availing a service, in the wake of the GST implementation.

The app called TGST will also bring transparency in filing of returns by traders.

According to Principal Secretary (Revenue) Somesh Kumar, the app is in the beta version and is being developed in partnership with the IIT-Hyderabad.

"We have developed an app called TGST. One has to download the app. You go to a hotel and get the bill...all you need to do is to take a photo of bill and upload. We process it and give you a feedback if this is a correct bill, whether the dealer is enrolled with us or not," Somesh Kumar said.

He was speaking on the sidelines of a conference on 'GST Post implementation Issues' organised by Ftapcci here.

The app will bring transparency as by using it one can know whether a dealer has accounted his transactions in his returns.

Post GST, the state has collected around Rs 2,800 crore, including the state GST and integrated GST that goes to other states in the first two months, and expects the collections to stabilise in the coming period.
