'Telangana 1st in power consumption, per capita consumption'

: Telangana has secured first place in the country in power consumption and per capita power consumption, the state government said Friday.

Power consumption and per capita power consumption are known as development indexes, an official release said.

The central electricity authority has announced details of the progress of various states in power sector for the year 2017-18, it said.

"As per this data, Telangana state, by achieving highest growth rate in two divisions, stands first in the country.

By recording 13.62 per cent annual growth rate in power consumption, which is not there in any other state, Telangana stands first in the country," the release said.

 

It quoted state GENCO (power generation corporation) and TRANSCO (transmission corporation) CMD Devulapally Prabhakar Rao as having said that the achievements of power consumption, per capita power consumption and the peak demand signify the development index of Telangana.
