Three minor girls today allegedly drowned in a pond at Allipur village in the district, police said.
The incident occurred when the three girls - identified as M Taravv(8), M Gangavva (6), and Ch Meena (5) of Allipur were washing their clothes near the pond, an official attached with Raikal police station said.
They slipped into the pond. The family members on seeing them tried to save them by jumping into the pond. They were unable to save the girls and their bodies were later fished out, he added.
According to police a case has been registered in this connection and investigations are underway.
