Taking serious exception to comments by AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi questioning conferment of the Bharat Ratna on Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Padma Vibushan on L K Advani, the Telangana BJP today urged the President to annul Owaisi's Lok Sabha membership.
The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MP has "desecrated" the Constitution with his comments, Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy said in a letter written to President Pranab Mukherjee.
"His (Asaduddin Owaisi) irresponsible statements are highly provocative and obnoxious. It is unfortunate that a Lok Sabha MP has so blatantly attempted to desecrate the Constitution of India," he said.

"His comments warrant immediate action and he should be immediately expelled from the Lok Sabha and his membership annulled," he said.
Highlighting that Vajpayee has been the beloved leader of the country, Reddy said that the former Prime Minister was chosen by the then Congress government in 1992 to represent India at the United Nations.
"The then Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid was also one of the members of the delegation, which reflects Vajpayee's acceptability as a national leader," he said.
Similarly, Reddy said that Advani's contribution during his 60 years of public life is self-evident.
"Advani and Vajpayee do not need certificates from a hate monger like Asaduddin Owaisi, who believes in communal politics and perpetuate the policies of his mentor Qasim Razvi, who was responsible massacring innocent people during the Hyderabad Nizam's rule in Telangana," he said.
