Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today announced that9,200 new village Panchayat Raj Secretaries will be recruited shortly.
According to an official release, Rao has instructed the officialsto commence the recruitment process within a week and complete it within two months.
He also wanted every village to have a Panchayat Raj secretary whose basic function would be to play key role in taking the village towards all-around progress, it said.
The newly recruited 9,200 Panchayat Raj secretaries would be under probation for three years and regularised later, based on their performance only and those found non-performing would not be continued further, it said.
There are 12,751 village panchayats in the state as per the new Panchayat Act.
Out of these, 3562 village Panchayats have regular secretaries as of now.

In the recent past, the state government has created new Gram Panchayats which require secretaries.
In addition, there are vacancies in old panchayats also.
The Chief Minister has decided that every village should have a secretary exclusively for it and the earlier system of one secretary holding charge for more than one gram panchayat should be done away with.
As part of this, the CM said that 9,200 village Panchayat Raj secretaries will have to be recruited, the release said.
The CM said, that, the cabinet would formally approve the proposal when it meets shortly regarding the recruitment of Panchayat Raj secretaries.
The village has multiple responsibilities which include implementation of Harithaharam (tree plantation), village sanitation, tax collection, drainage works and management, management of street electricity lights, prevention of diseases, eradication of mosquitoes, and dump yards.
The Panchayat Raj Secretary would be made responsible to take up those works in close coordination with village panchayat, the release added.
