Telangana CM to explain industrial plan during Singapore tour

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is visiting Singapore where he will explain his government's upcoming industrial policy and invite investments in the newly-formed state.

Rao will participate in an event organised by alumni of an IIM in the Southeast Asian nation.

"I am leaving for Singapore tonight. They (the organisers) came to know about the industrial policy we are planning to bring. They wanted to know more about it. They were also impressed about our intension to make Hyderabad a slum-free city," he said at a press conference here ahead of his departure.

"The purpose of my visit is to market Telangana (for investment opportunities) and showcasing (the resources it has)," Rao said.
 

The Chief Minister, who is on his first overseas tour after assuming office, said he would also visit Malaysia to study some urban development projects there.

According to an official release issued earlier, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President S R Nathan would also attend the August 22-23 event, where ex- students of the IIM working in different countries would be in attendance.

Rao and other officials accompanying him would stay in Singapore for two-three days and study the industrial policy of the city-state, it added.
