Faced with an acute electricity shortage, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is on a visit to Chhattisgarh to purchase of power.
"I have actually come for purchasing electricity from Chhattisgarh, for supplying to our farmers. Electricity is being supplied 24 hours (a day) in Chhattisgarh. We don't have such a situation. We are trying to produce 16,000 MW of electricity in three years. Then, we will also give electricity for 24 hours," he said.
Rao was speaking at an interaction with farmers in Bemetra district today, on the first day of his visit to Chhattisgarh.

The opposition Congress, BJP and TDP have alleged that a number of farmers have committed suicide since the TRS government assumed office in June this year.
Meanwhile, BJP's national vice-president and MP Bandaru Dattatreya met Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh in Raipur today and submitted a memorandum seeking 1,000 MW power for his state.
