The Congress today sought clarification from the Assembly Speaker on the status of resignation of rebel Telugu Desam Party MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who is now a Minister.

"It is exactly six months since TDP MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav was sworn in as a Minister in the TRS Government.

"His resignation as an MLA submitted to the Assembly Speaker, which was made a pre-requisite by the Governor prior to his being sworn-in as a Minister, has not yet been accepted so far," Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee Executive member and former MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy said in a release.

In a letter addressed to Speaker S Madusudanachari, Reddy said "Yadav had informed media that he had submitted his resignation as MLA to the Assembly Speaker hours before being sworn in as a Minister. However, this has not been accepted by the Speaker even after six months."

"This does not call for any notice to be served (under anti-defection law) as in the case of other MLAs against whom petitions for their disqualification have been filed by the parties under whose symbols they had been elected," the TPCC leader said.

In December last year, hours before his induction into the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Cabinet, the rebel TDP MLA from Sanatnagar here had put in his papers and quit Assembly membership.

In a letter to the Speaker, Yadav, now Minister for Commercial Taxes, had requested him to accept his resignation.
