Telangana: Cops ask civic body to educate people on Safety Act

As the Telangana government plans to implement the Public Safety Act, Hyderabad Police today asked the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to hold orientation programmes for the owners of business establishments on it.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy, along with GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar today inspected several areas in Punjagutta and Lakdi-ka-pul here along with their departmental officials.

Reddy asked Kumar to organise orientation programmes with all managements of business establishments to give them detail on 'Public Safety Act'.

"In order to make Hyderabad a safer and world-class city, the Telangana government is planning to implement the Public Safety Act," Reddy said and stressed on the need to educate citizens about the Act before its implementation.
 

Under this Act every business establishments must install web-enabled cameras, which will be monitored by the centralised police control room, an official release quoted Reddy as saying.
