Telangana could be a major seeds producer: Rao

Aiming to make Telangana a major producer of seeds in the country, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao sought to learn the best practices in farming during a visit to Chhattisgarh, it was officially announced here today.

Rao, who is on a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh to purchase electricity, visited a seeds research station, farms and other facilities to learn that state's experience, a release issued by the Telangana Chief Minister's office said here today.

Stating that Telangana could be made a hub for seeds production in India, Rao said different types of lands in Telangana are good for production of seeds.
 

He said that drip irrigation would be developed in phases in Telangana, for which funds would be allocated in the coming budget.

Rao sought technical cooperation from the research station in Chhattisgarh and farmers, the release said.
