Telangana council chairman appears in court in poll code case

Telangana legislative council chairman K Swamy Goud today appeared before a local court in connection with a complaint related to poll code violation.

Judicial Magistrate G Satish adjourned the matter to January 30, 2017.

According to police, Goud was a Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) nominee from graduates MLC constituency in 2013.

The then tehsildar, Karimnagar, V Bhujanga Rao filed a complaint before police, on February, 21, 2013 alleging that Goud violated the election code of conduct by displaying a poster consisting images of TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and himself at the gate of collectorate in the town.

The offence is punishable under section 127 A of Representation of the People Act.
 

Goud won the election and later elected as chairman of legislative council in 2014. However, the case has been pending before the trial court.
