The Telangana government plans to appoint a commission to look at providing 12 per cent reservation for tribals, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said here today.
"The government is taking special interest for the welfare of 'Girijans' (tribals). Some orders have already been issued. The government has taken a decision. A commission would be appointed for it soon," he said.
Rao was speaking at an event where Congress MLA D S Redya Naik joined TRS.
"Earlier governments did not bother about problems of tribals, but the TRS government has issued orders to recognise 'tandas' (tribal habitations) as panchayats. It will be implemented soon," he said.
