The Telangana government has drawn up plans to plant 39 crore saplings this year as part of its green drive, 'Telangana ku Harita Haram.'

State Chief Secretary S K Joshi, who held a video conference with district collectors, asked the officials to gear up for the fourth phase of 'Harita Haram' this year as it is a priority programme for the state government, an official release said.

The plantation drive is likely to start in the second week of July this year.

Joshi suggested that measures like identification of places to plant saplings and digging pits be taken up.

He also said training would be imparted to officials and staff on 'Harita Haram' to achieve better results.

According to official sources, 81.60 crore saplings have been planted in the last three years since 2015-16 under Harita Haram.
