Telangana Government today decided to install a memorial here for those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of separate state.

The memorial and a garden in memory of the 'martyrs' would come up at Hussain Sagar Lake here, a release from the Chief Minister's Office said.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would lay the foundation stone for the memorial on June 2, the Telangana Formation Day.

The memorial garden should become a literary and cultural centre highlighting Telangana history and culture, Rao said in a meeting with officials on the arrangements for the Formation Day.

The CM ordered that the formation day should be celebrated in a befitting way in Hyderabad, across all the district headquarters and also the Telangana Bhavan in Delhi, as per the release.

The government would unfurl a massive national flag at Hussain Sagar on the occasion, the release added.

Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh on June 2, 2014 following sustained agitations for the cause.
