Telangana police launches App to track stolen vehicles

In order to track stolen vehicles, Telangana police here launched a mobile application today which will help police to trace stolen/abandoned vehicles during regular checkings.

Launching the App, Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy said that with verification of vehicle number/engine no./chassis no. By entering them in the App, officers can verify whether the vehicle is a stolen one.

The App is being provided to all officers of Telangana state Police up to the rank of sub-inspectors working in law and order, crime and traffic wings, he said, adding, the App currently works on Android platform and development of IOS App is in progress.
 

Explaining the features of the App, Reddy said it has 'search' and 'entry option'.

"Whenever the officer suspects any vehicle, they can search details of the vehicle by entering vehicle no., chassis no. And engine no. And immediately information will flash that whether it is in stolen category or not along with detail of unit/district/police stations, numbers etc, if the vehicle falls under stolen category," he said.

On the 'entry option', Reddy said officials can directly update the stolen/abandon vehicle particulars using the option.

Updation and search of stolen/abandoned vehicle data through mobile phone will facilitate police officers for immediate tracing of stolen vehicles, he said, adding, state-wide implementation of this application will help in nabbing the offenders.
