Telangana police officer held in disproportionate assets case

An Assistant Commissioner of Police was today arrested by Telangana ACB for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets worth nearly Rs 3 crore.

N Sanjeeva Rao, posted at Kukatpally under Cyberabad Police Commissionarate, was allegedly found in possession of movable and immovable assets worth Rs 2.9 crore which were beyond his known sources of income, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said in a statement here.

The details of suspected ill-gotten wealth came to light after ACB sleuths conducted simultaneous searches at the residence of Rao in Hyderabad besides his office and his relatives' houses in Warangal and Medak districts.

The cops found the police official allegedly possessing residential and commercial properties, gold and agricultural land, among others. The current market value of the assets would be about Rs 13 crore, the statement added.
