The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) claimed victory in the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) elections here today.
Senior TRS leader and State Excise Minister T Padmarao expressed confidence that the party-backed candidate would become the Board's vice-president.
"Without having to appease anyone, those backed by our party will take up the vice-president's post. We will win the forthcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls as well," he said.
The president's post is held by an army official.
Polls for eight wards of the SCB were held on January 11 without party affliation.
