Telangana seeks investments from corporate biggies

Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today met corporate leaders in the national capital and sought investments.

He also spoke at an interactive session at the World Economic Forum's India Economic Summit in New Delhi, said an official release here.

Rama Rao met Adi Godrej, Chairman, Godrej Group; Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder, Infosys; Sumant Sinha, Chairman and CEO, ReNew Power; USIBC's Senior Directors Jay Gullish and Abhishek Kishore; Yusuff Ali M A, Chairman, LuLu Group International, and Dipali Goenka, CEO Welspun India, among others.

He spoke about "transparent, progressive and investor-friendly" industrial policies and "plethora of opportunities" in Telangana and invited them to invest in the state and expand their operations, it said.
 

The invitation "evoked positive response", the release added.

At the interactive session at the India Economic Summit, the Telangana minister said that for going global, Indian start-ups should move beyond the mindset of mere problem-solving and inculcate the art of articulating their products better.

Citing examples of how Silicon Valley and Internet developed, Rama Rao underlined government's role in fostering them in the initial stages.

Governments cannot spur entrepreneurship as it has to come from the private sector, but governments have to create infrastructure, platforms and regulations that don't come in the way of doing business, Rama Rao said.
