Temp in Maha around normal now

After a heat wave, the overall temperature in Maharashtra now stands at around normal level, according to the IMD.

In its data released this evening, the IMD stated that the maximum temperature has recorded a minor reduction.

"There are some western disturbances and some cooling developments in Jammu and Kashmir as well as other extreme northern Indian region. It has influenced the temperature in central India and as a cascading effect, the Maharashtra region is also witnessing temperature remaining around its normal," Dr A K Srivastav, Head, Climate Monitoring and Analysis Group of IMD, told PTI today.

He said the temperature is likely to remove around its normal for next 4-5 days. "In some isolated parts, it may be lower than the normal temperature," Srivastav said.
 

Wardha district in Vidarbha region was the hottest in Maharashtra today with 42.5 degree Celsius, with the maximum temperature was up by 2.7 degree Celsius compared to its normal temperature.

Such minor departure is not even recognised separately, he said.

As per the data, Pune reported lowest minimum temperature at 17.7 degree Celsius, which was lower by 0.4 degree Celsius than its normal temperature.

"In Central Maharashtra region, Pune, Kolhapur, Nashik and Sangli reported slightly lower departure (change) in maximum temperature than its normal one.

"Though there was no departure on lower side in Marathwada, most of the areas reported minor rise in maximum and minimum temperatures. Osmanabad is the only district where minimum temperature was 21.1 degree Celsius with departure lower by 1 degree Celsius. It had reported maximum temperature 40.5 degree Celsius with departure of 2.8 degree Celsius," as per IMD.

Chandrapur, which was in the news in last two days for being hottest, recorded 41 degree Celsius temperature.

Gondia has reported lowest departure in its minimum temperature. Gondia had maximum and minimum temperature at 41.6 and 20 degree Celsius, respectively.
