Tempel achieves record sale of Panchamritham

The famous Dhandayuthapaniswamy temple here has achieved a record in sale of 'Panchamritham' (a delicacy made of ingredients like honey and banana), which touched 13,47,157 kg between November 17 and December 22 last year, worth Rs 6.76 crore.

During the corresponding period in 2012, Rs.5.40 crore worth of Panchamritham was sold, temple officials said.

Temple officials said the shrine also planned to put up one more panchamirtham production unit to meet the increasing demand for the 'prasadam.'

Temple executive officer Rajamanickam said revenue from the sale of darshan tickets crossed Rs.8.31 crore and number of pilgrims visiting the shrine daily crossed one lakh mark.
 

The temple would also set up additional sales counters for the sale of panchamritham after the new production unit started operationg, he added.
