The maximum temperature dropped slightly at most places in Punjab and Haryana today, providing a slight respite from the heat wave conditions that had prevailed in the two states during the past few days.
In Haryana, Ambala today recorded a high of 40.1 degrees Celsius, Met Department report said here.
The respective maximum temperature at Karnal and Hisar also dropped by two notches to settle at 40.6 degrees Celsius and 42 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum temperature recorded at Amritsar was 33 degrees Celsius, seven notches below normal limits, while Ludhiana registered a high of 37.4 degrees Celsius.
Chandigarh recorded a high of 40 degrees Celsius.
The MeT office has forecast a possibility of rains or thundershowers at isolated places of the two states tomorrow.
