Chandigarh, the joint capital of the two states, recorded a maximum of 34 deg C, the MeT said here.
In Haryana, Ambala registered a high of 33.8 deg C, Karnal's high was 32.2 deg C while Rohtak's maximum settled at 32.9 deg C.
Ludhiana recorded a high of 35.2 deg C while Patiala's maximum was recorded at 34.7 deg C.
The day temperature at Amritsar was 36 deg C.
The two states and Chandigarh remained generally dry today, but the MeT in its forecast has said that light to moderate rain or thunder showers may occur at a few places in Haryana and Punjab over the next two days.
