Temperatures rise across North India

Capital Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 40.3 degrees celsius, six more than normal and a minimum of 29.2 degrees celsius, 3 notches higher than usual.

Parts of Uttar Pradesh received rain and thundershowers as the monsoon remained active over the state.

The cities which received rains are Lucknow, Etawah, Rajghat, Kakardharighat and Bharthana, the Met office said.

Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places over eastern UP and one or two places over western UP, it added.

Maximum temperatures shot up by a few notches in Punjab and Haryana also with no rains reported in the state.

 

Hisar in Haryana was the hottest place in the two states recording a maximum of 42.4 degrees Celsius, six notches above normal, the MeT said here.

Bhiwani also sizzled at 42.2 degrees Celsius, up six degrees while Rohtak sweltered at 41.5 degrees Celsius, up seven notches.

Ambala and Karnal recorded near similar highs of 37.5 degrees Celsius and 37 degrees Celsius, respectively.

In Punjab, Amritsar residents experienced a hot day at 41.5 degrees Celsius, six notches above normal level.

Patiala and Ludhiana, too, braved sultry weather conditions recording respective maximums of 38 degrees Celsius and 37.8 degrees Celsius, up by five and four degrees each.

High humidity levels prevailed in Chandigarh, which recorded a high of 35.3 degrees Celsius. A few areas in the City received light rains in the afternoon, but the showers lasted barely for a few minutes.
