Temperatures soar across West Bengal, Met deptt predicts rains

Day temperatures in Gangetic West Bengal rose to around 40 degree Celsius mark, but the weatherman kept up hopes of cooler climate with a forecast of possibility of rain or thunderstorm in some parts of the region.

Asansol recorded the day's highest temperature in the state at 40.4 deg C, according to the MeT department.

Bankura, Burdwan and Sriniketan in Gangetic West Bengal recorded 39.7 deg C, 38.0 deg C and 38.2 deg C, respectively.

Kolkata recorded the day's highest temperature at 36.6 deg C, but high humidity level raised the discomfort level.

The MeT department has forecast partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers in parts of Gangetic West Bengal.
