Scolded over an anomaly in expenditure tally, a 42-year-old guest house attendant of a famous temple in South Delhi ended his life allegedly by hanging himself from a ceiling fan, police said today.

Nirmal Garami was found by another staff member in a room at the first floor of the guest house building inside the Kali Mandir at CR Park area, police said.

No suicide note was found on the spot, they said.

"Garami's family which lives in the guest house quarters alleged that he was depressed for the past two days after being scolded by the manager," said a police official.

"According to one of his colleague, the temple committee members had threatened him of informing police over the same issue because of which he was worried," he said.

Garami, a native of West Bengal, worked as an attendant in the temple's guest house for the past ten years.

Police said that they are verifying the allegations.
