The officials of Sri Ramanathaswamy temple today alleged that the construction of two Rajagopurams on the southern and northern sides had been affected as the police were "harassing" the transporters bringing bricks and sand to the temple.

They would not be able to carry on the "Balabhishekam" and other renovation works in temple as per schedule if the police blocked all the way to the temple, C Selvaraj, Joint Commissioner of the temple told PTI.

The police were not allowing even the vehicles carrying the pooja articles into the temple, though the temple authorities had issued passes for the vehicles, he said.

Instead of regulating the traffic and parking, police were blocking the traffic, which caused hindrance not only to the pilgrims, but to the temple as a whole, he said.
