Temple elephant being treated for rashes

A 38-year-old local temple elephant is being treated for rashes.

A team of veterinarians had examined the pachyderm Rajeswari, belonging to the Sugavaneswarar temple, yesterday, temple officials said.

It also had a boil on the left leg. The elephant had a wheezing problem earlier but it was cured, officials said.

The team advised the mahout and devotees not to exert her.
