Temple employees lit Moksha Deepam

A "Moksha Deepam", a huge brass lamp, was lit by employees of the famous Ramanathaswamy temple here, who prayed for the salvation of late former President A P J Adbul Kalam.

They also paid their gratitude for the efforts Kalam in tracing the holy water tanks at the temple and renovating them, temple sources said.

Ealier the pilgirms and employees led by Joint Commissioner of the temple A Selvaraj and other officials took out a procession carrying the picture of the former president.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people queued up till late night to have a glimpse of the spot where Kalam had been laid to rest and pay floral tribute to him after political dignitaries and top governmental functionaries left after the funeral.
 

It was a tough time in controlling the crowd as they started surging ahead after the leaders left after the last rites were performed, police said.

Barricades were not effective enough to control the crowd, police said.
