Temple head priest killed, lakhs of rupees looted

The head priest of a temple at Narwana town here was killed allegedly by some unidentified persons today.

According to police, Kishori Nath used to stay alone at the Peepal Nath Temple at Punjabi Chowk. When a devotee, Ranveer Singh, visited the temple this morning he found the priest dead.

Cash worth lakhs of rupees were also missing from the cupboard of the treasury room, they said.

Upon receiving information, police arrived at the temple and inspected the crime scene, Station in-charge Surendra Singh said.

The priest's body has been sent for post-mortem, Singh said, adding, a case has been registered against unidentified person and efforts were on to nab them.
