Temple looted, valuable articles stolen

A temple at Permude, Bajpe, in the district was looted today by two masked persons who escaped with the "Panchaloha" idol and other valuables, police said.

They said the thieves entered the temple of Annappa Swamy by breaking open the door.

They made good their escape with the "Panchaloha" idol, the gold tongue, eyes made of diamonds and the offering box.

Police said the value of the stolen articles could not be immediately assessed.

A CCTV footage showed two masked persons entering the premises from the rear side of the temple, they said.
